From August 20 to 22, 2025, the National Cold-Rolled Strip Technology Exchange Conference, themed "Innovation and Development of High-Quality, Efficient, and Intelligent Cold-Rolled Strip Rolling Technology," was grandly held in Xichang, Sichuan Province. Co-organized by the Steel Rolling Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., and other organizations, the conference brought together over 130 experts, scholars, and technical experts from cold-rolled strip manufacturers, research institutions, universities, and smart manufacturing-related companies to discuss industry development trends and technological breakthroughs.

During the conference, Dr. Zhang Yumin, Chief Expert of Shanghemei (Beijing) Technology Research Institute and Technical Director of Cangzhou China Resources Chemical Co., Ltd., delivered a special report entitled "Advances in Cold-Rolled Steel Rolling Lubrication Technology - Oil Film Thickening and Magnetic Rod Sludge Solidification Technology," which attracted widespread attention.

Dr. Zhang Yumin introduced the "New DPC System Oil Film Thickening Technology," independently developed by the Shanghemei Research Institute and the Cangzhou China Resources team, as a cutting-edge achievement in the domestic cold rolling chemicals field. This technology ensures that the oil film in the roll gap remains intact under extreme rolling conditions in high-speed mills, ensuring a uniform oil film at the outlet. This significantly improves lubrication, extends roll life, and increases rolling mileage. Furthermore, the system optimizes the uniformity of oil droplet particles in the emulsion, inhibits shear-induced particle breakage, extends rolling oil life, increases plate surface reflectivity by 20–25%, reduces oil consumption by 10–20%, reduces waste oil production by 40–65%, and significantly reduces hazardous waste generation, providing key technical support for companies to achieve energy conservation, consumption reduction, and green, low-carbon development goals.

He possesses extensive scientific and industrial experience, having published over 60 papers and received seven invention patents. He is a leading technical expert in my country's cold-rolled steel lubrication field.

A pre-conference expert symposium was held, where over 80 industry experts engaged in in-depth discussions on key technical challenges and development directions in cold-rolled sheet and strip production, and provided constructive suggestions for the future work of the Steel Rolling Subcommittee. The event was enriching and the discussions were fruitful, receiving unanimous praise from the delegates.
